Further detail on his past here:
Ran Fujimiya was the happy son of a business man on July 4th, 1977. He had two loving parents and a younger sister he adored. Then, after returning from a festival with his sister on her birthday, he found his parents murdered along with the smell of gas flooding the home. Horrified, he managed to get himself and his sister out right before the house exploded. Aya escaped but Ran was trapped beneath the debris. From his position there, he could only watch as a car carrying a man known as Reiji Takatori struck his sister sending her into a coma.
By her hospital bed, he vowed revenge and took one of the earrings he’d bought her at the festival to place it in her hand. The other went into his left ear. After this, he joined an organization known as Kritiker. They moved him to one of the units within where he met a man named Shion in Sendai. He was greatly impressed by the man’s skill with a sword and asked him to teach him. At first, Shion refused but finally he began training him by having him arrange flowers.
[Personality] Ran can come across as rather mature for his age when he's around those that he's familiar with. He's a strong person in general with a desire to take care of those around him, especially those that he loves. His very nature seems to dictate that he watch over those around him to make sure that they are alright, often at the cost of himself. It is far easier for him to give up things he loves and dreams he has in order to see to it that others are placed first. Of course, this is done without a second thought or even a glance back to see if he regrets what he did. So long as he can take care of others, as long as he can be the big brother, then he is content.
On the flip side, he can really beat himself up if he finds that he's let someone down. One of the greatest examples of this is how he was unable to save his family from their fates. Now his parents are dead and his sister is in a coma. He blames himself for this even though there was absolutely nothing that he could have done. In his eyes, the entire incident might as well have been his fault and he might as well have asked that car to slam into his sister's paralyzed body.
The guilt and anger of what happened to his family weighs heavily on him but he feels like there might not be anything he can do. His anger is slowly building up inside him but he just hasn't managed to get a grasp of that yet. Mostly he just feels at a loss, wondering how he could possibly manage to avenge his family for what happened. He's given up everything, his school work, his future, his dreams, in order to join an organization that he knows nothing about simply to pay for his little sister's hospital bills.
Right now, Aya is more precious to him than anything in the world simply because she's all he has left. It's crossed his mind to take on her name in order to get his revenge but he's aware that he's not strong enough yet. (It should be known that this is my interpretation of events since the timeline for Weiss doesn't cover how he changes his name right after Aya's sent into a coma and how he doesn't have his name changed for the next two years.) Currently it would just be a dishonor to completely kill off the Ran portion of him until he has something stronger to replace him with. For that reason, he's trying to find some way to achieve that strength and not managing to succeed yet.
Because of how frustrated he is with himself, he can get angry rather easily when he can't do things right. He is learning to use the katana yet he's forbidden from actually using one until his master gives him permission. For that reason, he's reduced to constantly arranging flowers and not understanding why his creations are destroyed every single time when they're perfect recreations of the ones his master made. Ran finds himself proud to have done something right only to find it all destroyed before his very eyes instead. Though he rarely loses his temper at this stage of his life, he still flashes into anger as soon as he's shown that he's done something incorrectly, even going so far as to fault others to hide how furious he is with himself.
With that said, he's still very polite to those around him, understanding that he's a young Japanese male. He can be friendly to those who are good to him but it's harder for him to smile these days. Mostly he's not used to being alone and it's easier for him to still be taken care of even if he can function on his own somewhat. The reality is that he's a high school drop out who has never lived on his own before and was raised in a nice home. Based on the state of the house, it's likely his family always had plenty of money even if they weren't filthy rich.
Despite dropping out of high school though, he is very intelligent. It's likely that he had very good grades while in school and has only dropped out because he's caring for his sister. Ran Fujimiya might as well be dead anyway so he's allowing that part of his life to slip away, not making contact with any of his friends or anyone he knew in that life. He's still rather naive though and surprised by some of the sins of the world. He's not sure how to respond to things like sex and alcohol just yet. For the most part, he's even rather shy about advances in that direction.
Now, this is not to say that he's unfamiliar with activities like this. He isn't a virgin and had his first sexual experience when he was just sixteen. Still, this is a private matter and he doesn't like to discuss it and is aware that he is still quite young. He might not be completely innocent but he is far from worldly, not having had the chance to get out there to learn about things the world has to offer in the way of sin. Even this way of vengeance is still new to him and he's unsure of how to proceed with it.
He is very stubborn though, not willing to give up just because he's failed once. Ran doesn't know how to stay down when kicked, rising back up to try again. If he's failed then there must be another way. That or he just has to try again until the method works. Giving up is never an option and he will fight to the bitter end to make sure that he succeeds. In a way, he's a perfectionist, that desire to get it right always there in his mind. However, if he improvises and finds that a slight flaw still gets him the success he needs then he settles for that.
Returning to an earlier statement, he's very likely to forget about himself entirely. He keeps very few personal possessions and doesn't really buy anything that isn't essential. Everything in his life goes towards his sister's well-being. He only barely remembers things like eating and sleeping because these things will help him to get stronger for her. On the other hand, he is still haunted by his parents bodies and her flying through the air so sleep can escape him. Still, he tries because she needs him. But he doesn't even think about his future since he doesn't care if he has one. Aya's future is Ran's entire world now and it doesn't matter to him what it costs so long as he can do that for her.
So he's a young man that is trying to find a path towards strength and revenge but hasn't found it yet. For that reason, he's rather lost in the world, angry and hating himself for letting his family down. His sister is his driving force causing him to be extremely protective of her. He goes out of his way to do things for her even at the cost of himself, maybe even especially at the cost of himself. Some part of him still clings to being Ran Fujimiya but the rest of him is fighting with that, ready to give up that part so he can kill the man who destroyed his life.
[Specialties/Abilities] Ran has no special abilities to speak of. He is not combat trained yet and he is just a high school dropout. That said, he's very well read and enjoys reading and writing. Also, he's shown to have a natural talent for floral arrangement as well as an ability to learn things rather quickly.
[Affection] Any type of affection allowed! He'll...not know how to respond to it though lol
[Fighting] It's very possible to kill or injure him since he really isn't much of a fighter. Just ask before you do something like that.
[Other Permissions] Can telepathic characters read your character's mind? How much can fourth wall breakers say? In other words, how intrusive can another character be toward yours? If there's anything you don't want a character to bring up or know about your character, just fill it in here.
[Other Facts] He is a young man who has been through a lot recently and is really hating himself. That said, he hasn't quite come to the point of shutting himself off completely from others. He still wants to reach out a bit and know that others are there. Someone how there has to be able to help him get strong enough to have his revenge and will respect his right to have it. Of that he's certain. This means that he's still trusting of those around him and hasn't fine tuned his senses yet to realize who might hurt him and who might protect him while he's blinded by a need for revenge.
